Work Permit Information
APPLYING FOR A WORK PERMIT
Students under the age of 18 must possess a valid work permit when employed. The application is not your work permit, it must be filled out by your current employer and signed by your parents or guardians before the work permit is issued. Bring the completed application to the front office for verification of requirements met. Once reviewed, the office will then issue you a separate work permit document for each application. Students will sign the work permit copy and then submit it to their employer.
*Work Permits will be delayed during the NTHS fall semester grading period and graduation. Please allow two to three days for processing during those times.
During the school year, typically from September through June, students must have good attendance and maintain a 2.0 GPA with no F's. Please allow 24 hours for processing during the school year. Work Permits expire typically two weeks before the end of every school year. If work permits are issued in the summer, they expire after the first week of the new school year. You must apply for a new work permit every year even if you have maintained the same job.
Students may hold more than one job as long as the combined hours do not exceed the designated hours allowed for the student’s current age (see the back of the application for information). A separate Work Permit must be obtained for each job with a different employer.
Students from another school district may also submit their completed permit application to the front office along with proof of age documents, such as a birth certificate, passport, or copy of a driver's license if applicable.
STUDENTS NOT PARENTS MUST BE PRESENT TO PICK UP AND SIGN THE ACTUAL WORK PERMIT THAT IS TO BE ISSUED, NOT THE APPLICATION BEING SUBMITTED.
