Our School

North Tahoe High School (NTHS) has a lot to be proud of and offers a phenomenal educational experience for our students. Recently, we were honored with California's Title 1 Academic Achievement Award. We were also awarded a six-year accreditation period from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).   This is one of the highest terms a school can earn, and the review process gave us incredible feedback on our outstanding work with our students. 

NTHS also has a highly acclaimed band program including the popular jazz band, the fastest boys Nordic ski team in the U.S., a successful partnership between NTHS’s culinary academy and local restaurants, and an expanded Ski/Independent Study Academy. The academy offers customized study programs for students involved in sports/artistic pursuits who need a flexible schedule but want a comprehensive high school experience. 

For this coming school year, NTHS has some great additions to our curriculum and academic programs as well as changes to existing programs to better enhance student learning.  We now offer a total of 15 AP courses, including four different AP opportunities in science!  Students are offered the following AP courses: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Science, Spanish, English Language, English Literature, Calculus, US History, Government, Microeconomics, Psychology, Statistics, Human Geography, and Computer Science Principles.  Our Engineering Pathway continues to grow, and we have an articulation agreement with Sierra College for capstone opportunities for students in their third or fourth year.

Our new 1:1 technology program offers all high school students the opportunity to check out a Chromebook for academic use in the classroom and at home throughout the school year.  With this program, NTHS will provide a state-of-the-art, 21st-century learning environment that fosters the professional use of technology to promote learning and mastery of skills required in the modern work place.
